Plano Air Conditioning Tips

Choosing a quality air filter is one of the most important decisions you can make. A quality air filter prevents air born allergens, illnesses, dust, mold, dust mites and a plethora of other things that can you and your family to fall stricken by illness and like always, Plano air conditioning is here to help you make the best decision possible.

These filters are very cheap you can quite literally spend an extra couple of dollars on an air filter that could literally save your family money in the long run by avoiding costly trips to the doctor.

The question is now, "How do I choose a quality air filter?" Luckily the USDE (United States Department of Energy) has come up with an ingenious solution to this rather complex problem. They've create a rating system for air filtration units known as a MERV. Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value or a MERV is a unit of measurement ranging from 1 to 16. The cheap filters that most penny pinchers use ranges between 1-8, obviously not near close enough to the 12 rating that the USDE recommends. These cheesy filters while costing next to nothing also do… next to nothing. The dust mites, bacteria, allergens and other matter that the higher rated MERV filters prevent with ease are let through by the cheaper filters at a ridiculous rate. It's so bad in fact that people have reported getting sick even when a member of their family was isolated in a room without contact with anyone else. The filters simply acted almost as a hole in the wall and let the air conditioning unit pump "dirty" air right into the rooms where everyone else was. I don't know about you, but sitting at home in bed sick is not my idea of a good weekend simply because I couldn't "break the bank" on a quality air filter, but to each his own.
